One of the things I love about the internet is all the different ways to spread information and educate people. The internet is the "Information Highway" where we can read the news, find information on topics that interest us, or share information that others can find useful. And when it comes to drunk driving, the internet is a great way to create awareness of this problem.
This past year a pregnant Jennifer Bukosky and her 10-year-old daughter were killed by a drunk driver named Mark Benson. Benson is a former physician who was under the influence of prescription drugs at the time of the accident.
In an effort to strengthen Wisconsin's drunk driving laws, Jennifer's parents have created a website, Jennifer Bukosky. At this website Wisconsin residents can "sign" a petition that demands Wisconsin Legislature change current Wisconsin Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) laws.
This is the type of grassroots movement that anyone can do in any state. Creating more awareness about the dangers of drunk driving and sharing stories like Jennifer Bukosky's are needed now more than ever.
